Capwatt Metanol (part of Metdriven group) is a technology and energy company committed to turning waste and emissions into renewable value by developing, building and operating a decentralized biogas to methanol production plant. Capwatt Metanol purpose is to enable the circular use of carbon – transforming organic and residual carbon streams into low-carbon fuels and molecules that power a net-zero future.

in ZeroCarb

At Zerocarb, Capwatt Metanol act as both industrial end user and strategic partner, bridging technology validation and market deployment. Capwatt Metanol is responsible to host and operate the HyCarb system, enabling pilot-scale validation (TRL6) in a real industrial environment.

Moreover, Capwatt Metanol will provide renewable electricity and biomethane supply, ensuring full infrastructure readiness for integration with biomethane, green power and hydrogen extraction systems. Capwatt Metanol combines operational capability, technical expertise and market strategy to accelerate industrial-scale implementation.

Jorge Matos

CEO of CapWatt

Jorge Matos is a senior energy executive with over 25 years of experience in the development and operation of energy projects. With a background in Electrical Engineering, he has led waste-to-energy and bioenergy initiatives across Europe, Africa and Latin America. Former founder and CEO of ENC Energy and later C-level executive at Capwatt, he currently focuses on supporting innovative technologies that accelerate the energy transition.

Tiago Araújo

Business Developer and Innovation Manager

Tiago Araújo is a Chemical Engineer with a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering and a background in renewable fuels and industrial process innovation. He has extensive experience in R&D and large-scale project development. He is also co-founder of Carbopora, a cleantech spin-off focused on advanced gas separation technologies. Currently, he focuses on the development of low-carbon fuel solutions, bridging engineering, innovation strategy and market implementation

Sara Brandão

Project Engineer

Sara Brandão is a Mechanical Engineer with experience in advanced fuels and sustainable energy technologies. She has held roles at Metdriven, Capwatt and SCIVEN, contributing to the development and implementation of low-carbon energy solutions. With a background in R&D and industrial engineering, she supports the advancement of innovative technologies driving energy transition.
